Hand-painted lidded pottery jar by Ilyés V. Mihály, Korond (Corund), Transylvania, Romania, circa 1980s–1990s.
The cream-glazed earthenware jar is decorated in cobalt and soft blue with a large stylized bird surrounded by traditional floral and foliate motifs. The fitted lid has a small opening for a serving spoon or utensil.
Hand signed “Ilyés V. Mihály / Korond” on the underside. Ilyés Vészti Mihály is a documented Korond master potter known for preserving the region's traditional ceramic techniques and decorative motifs.
Excellent vintage condition with natural variations from the handmade and hand-painted process.
