A beautiful 1950s Italian Florentine tole chandelier with three lights and an exceptionally detailed original polychrome finish. Hand-formed metal flowers and foliage in soft pink, blue, green and muted red are arranged along an aged ivory-painted iron frame, accented with gilt leaves and a distinctive turquoise blue central bowl.
Made in Italy circa 1950, this vintage floral chandelier is characteristic of Florentine decorative lighting of the period, combining Rococo-inspired scrolling forms with colorful hand-painted tole flowers. The original painted and gilt finish has been preserved, showing authentic patina, rubbing and paint loss acquired over more than 70 years.
The chandelier originally retained wooden socket assemblies, a characteristic detail of its early construction. It has now been completely rewired with new wiring and new E14 sockets, while the decorative structure and original polychrome finish remain untouched.
An especially decorative piece of vintage Italian lighting, equally suited to a French country interior, colorful cottage, traditional European home or eclectic room.
